On My Desk This Month: October 2017

It has been a BIG MONTH, y’all. I sold my book, and got to actually tell people I sold my book! I’ve also started to really work in earnest on a new project, which is exciting and invigorating and all sorts of other adjectives.

ANYWAY. Let’s get into the material objects I like to spend money on.

  • Adrenaline Crush, a sort of glittery purple nail polish from Sally Hansen (that is WAY darker than it looks on the Target website)
  • This Ambrosia candle from Aspen Bay Candles, which I think I got from Anthropologie (or it may have been a gift?)
    • Notes of orange and grapefruit and it doesn’t say pineapple but I am convinced there’s some in there
  • A pair of one dollar Christmas socks from Target because it’s time
  • The Bear and the Nightingale, by Katherine Arden
  • A mini matte creme lip crayon from Bite Beauty in the shade Pastille
  • A mini GEN NUDE matte liquid lip from Bare Minerals in the shade Bo$$
  • The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb which I would full on DIE for
  • A Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer because I finally replaced my old one, which shattered
  • Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner – I’ve never really been a toner person but this is affordable and it’s actually working
    • I got the Rose Petal version by accident… kind of wishing I hadn’t but I still like it!!

What have you been loving this month?

It happened!

That’s me! That’s my book!

I’ve known about this for maybe two weeks or so and it has been the WOOOOORST keeping it to myself but today I finally get to tell people about it. So this is me, telling you about it.

For a longer synopsis you can click here, and for some general aesthetic/vibes stuff, you can see the book’s Pinterest board here.

I can’t wait for you to read about my island and my girls. They are horrible; they are angry; they are their very worst selves, and I love them quite a bit.

On My Desk This Month: September 2017

September is almost over and AT LAST the weather has turned. Windows open, fall candles lit, thick socks on.

Here’s what’s on my desk this month, and what I’m loving in the fall!

  • A Sweet Spearmint Bath & Bodyworks candle, which I like to combine with other minty candles to bump down the sweetness
  • Malaga Wine, a deep red OPI nail polish
  • This notebook/pen from Anthropologie with my zodiac sign (Aries) on the cover, which I got on sale
  • A billion empty cans of Lime LaCroix because I’m trying not to drink so much soda and it’s workinggggggggg
  • An Enchantment of Ravens, by Margaret Rogerson
  • One Dark Throne, by Kendare Blake (why oh why did I leave my copy of the first book in England)
  • A deluxe sample of Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf
  • A rollerball of Verde by Nest
  • A Buxom lip gloss in Dolly (this will make your lips tingle like no other – be warned)
  • A Nudestix cream highlighter in (oh god this name) ILLUMI-NAUGHTY
  • And lastly, a duochrome Colourpop single shadow in Glass Ball

What’s on your desk this month? Tell me your faves!

On My Desk This Month: August 2017

I am not a beauty vlogger, so I can’t call this my “August Favorites,” but basically it’s my August favorites.

Here’s what’s on my desk (which I use as a vanity/coffee table/sometimes recycling bin) this month:

  • After School Boy Blazer, a deep navy Essie nail polish
  • Australian Bamboo Grass scented candle from Makers Kit
    • notes of French lavender, fresh cut grass, lemon peel, mint, and date
  • Espresso scented candle from Boulangerie
  • Two empty Diet Coke cans (okay, way more than two)
  • See What I Have Done, by Sarah Schmidt
  • A tube of Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, my forever fave
  • My computer charger, wrapped almost entirely in electrical tape (hang in there, bud – love ya)
  • My phone in its new phone case, which has an illustrated leaf pattern
    • related: on the floor near my desk, my new favorite skirt, also with a leaf pattern (somebody pls take me to a forest)
  • A pair of battered blue-lensed sunglasses from CVS
  • A NYX Micro Brow pencil in black/noir (if you have dark brows, do not kid yourself that anything but the darkest shade of this pencil will work for you – their espresso shade was WAY too warm for me)
  • And last but not least, a lactic acid serum from The Ordinary
